Facebook For Your Business

A new layout for Pages on mobile

April 23, 2013

Each day, millions of people visit Facebook Pages – with almost half accessing them from their mobile phones. Today, we've developed a new mobile Pages layout tailored to the way people look for information on their mobile devices. It's now easier for your customers to interact with your Page in a way that’s both efficient and useful. These updates are accessible via mobile browsers and the Facebook iOS app, and new mobile Pages on the Android app are coming soon.

Benefits for your Page
  • Higher-appearing pinned posts: You can pin important posts (including Facebook Offers or videos) from your desktops. These posts are now front and center when Pages are accessed on mobile devices.
  • Easier mobile management: You now have the ability to easily switch between public and admin views directly from your mobile Pages/devices.
How to get your Page ready
  • Fill out your Page with basic information: Page category and about section. If you have a local business with a location, update your Page with your address, store hours, phone number, and other business info.
  • Download the Pages Manager app from the App Store to make it easy to manage your Pages on the go.

Ads Manager Updates: Focusing on Advertising Goals and Return On Investment

April 3, 2013

We're making several changes to the Ads Manager to make it even easier for you to see how you're performing against specific goals and to measure your ROI.

Benefits for your Business
  • See your progress against the specific actions that matter most for your goals. Ex: Page likes and post engagement.
  • Understand how much you are paying for each action so you can best optimize your ads to maximize performance. Ex: cost per Page likes, cost per Page Engagement.
  • Easier to measure ROI: If you're tracking conversions for an ad with tracking pixels, you'll automatically see your conversions reported in the Ads Manager as well as the "Cost per Conversion" for each ad.

Improving Page Conversations with Replies

March 25, 2013

Today, we launched Replies, a new feature designed to improve the quality of conversations on Pages. You can now reply directly to comments left on your Page and start conversation threads. The most active and engaging conversations will be shown at the top of your posts.

You can opt-in to Replies from the Page admin panel in the Manage Permission section. All Pages will have this feature enabled on July 10, 2013. Replies are available on desktop and we plan to make it available on mobile in the future.

Benefits for your Page
  • Easier for you to interact with individual people and keep relevant conversations connected.
  • Ensures that people who visit your Page will see the best conversations.

A New Look for News Feed

March 7, 2013
Watch this video to learn about the new design for news feed and how this benefits your business.
The new layout is designed to reduce clutter and focus more on stories from the people and Pages you care about. All content is becoming more vibrant, including stories from Pages and businesses. We'll be rolling the new design slowly over the coming weeks on web and mobile.

Benefits for your Page
  • Get discovered with “Following”: Thanks to a new “Following” feed on the right-hand side of the home page, people will be able to discover more content from the Pages they like and the people they follow.
  • More visual Page posts, ads, and sponsored stories to increase engagement with your audience.
  • Page Like sponsored stories in news feed will now display your cover photo, to provide more context about your Page and encourage more likes.

Graph Search: A new way for people to discover your business

January 15, 2013

Every day people use Facebook and discover things from their friends and the businesses they're connected to. If you have a Page on Facebook, Graph Search can make it easier for people to discover and learn more about your business. And if you have a business and you're not on Facebook, invest in creating a Page - it takes minutes. Graph Search is currently available in limited beta.

How to get your Page ready
  • Fill out your Page name, category, web address and About section.
  • If you have a location or local place Page, update your address so you can appear as a result when someone is searching for a specific location.
  • Share content directly on your Page: Only photos and videos shared on your Page can appear as results for photo and video-related searches.
  • Strengthen your Page connections: Ensure you're attracting the right people and having them interact with your content. If someone searches for restaurants in a particularly city, those that are most popular with their closest friends will be displayed first. Also, results that are similar to a searcher's existing likes and interests may be more likely to appear.

Nearby: New ways for people to discover your business

December 17, 2012
We've recently made a global update to Nearby, a mobile discovery experience for your business, powered by friends. Nearby allows consumers to find places near them, based on their connections. People can explore by category, such as a restaurant or movie theater, connect directly from their phone, including checking in or getting directions, and rate and share recommendations.

Places that appear in customers' Nearby list are based on things like friends' recommendations, ratings, check-ins, and likes. If you're a business with a physical location, here's what you can do to ensure your business is discoverable in Nearby:

  • Update your Page to include basic information, such as your address, store hours, phone number, and details about your business in the About section.
  • Update your category. Ex: if you are a sushi restaurant, you will not appear if you do not have the correct category listed.
  • Encourage connections from customers: likes, check-ins, ratings, and recommendations.

Nearby is available on the Facebook app for both iOS and Android globally. Find more information on Nearby in the Facebook Help Center.

Spotlight: Facebook's Preferred Marketing Developer Program

December 14, 2012
Our Facebook Preferred Marketing Developers Program has a community of developers who make social marketing easier and more effective. Four developers, adMixt, Brand Networks, Expion, and Zibaba are partnering with businesses to help them improve and meet their marketing objectives on Facebook.

adMixt

  • Partnered with Main Street Hub, a company focused on helping local businesses connect with customers, to become a key SMB partner for ads management.
  • Built technology that helps companies of any size increase their Page likes and engagement at optimized costs.

Expion
  • Expion's Social Media Management System helped a national restaurant chain poll over 1400 of their Facebook Pages, managed by over 5000 employees, and aggregate all Page post performance stats so they could be viewed and shared by other employees. This enabled content improvement and sharing between employees across the nation, and provided useful insights admins from various business locations wouldn't otherwise have access to.

  • Created and tracked multiple sponsored stories campaigns on hundreds of Pages for a national restaurant chain, driving over 20% increase in sales. Ex: they tracked sponsored story campaigns where a Monday night event was promoted on a $25 budget per store and 10 mile radius targeting to friends of fans.

Zibaba

  • Offers advanced tools for marketing, advertising and e-commerce that help SMBs increase revenue and lower customer acquisition costs.
  • Success Stories: Read the full stories here
  1. I Am Playr: Zibaba grew the football game company's Page likes by 10x in less than a year, almost doubled its number of game players in a few months, and drove significant revenue from Facebook
  2. Yellow Pages SA: Zibaba partnered with Yellow Pages SA to help SMBs grow their business on Facebook, resulting in an increase in Page likes and brand awareness, higher customer acquisition rates, significant sales and revenue growth.
Brand Networks

  • Partnered with American Express and Digitas to develop the technology that powered Small Business Saturday, an annual event held the day after Black Friday to encourage people to support small and medium businesses and keep communities thriving.
  • Using the tool that Brand Networks developed, small business owners were able to leverage the power of Facebook to reach more customers and engage their community.

Promoted Posts target fan countries

November 26, 2012

We have released an update to Promoted Posts to target spend to the countries where most of your fans reside by default. You can still control targeting on your own to ensure only the most relevant people see your posts in their news feed.

How do I make sure that my ads get to my intended audience?

The best way to address this is by refining the audience that is eligible to see your posts. This can be done by targeting your Page post to specific locations and audiences.

Ads and Sponsored Stories to meet your business goals

October 4, 2012

We’ve refreshed the design of our ads creation tool. Now, it’s easier for you to create a group of ads and sponsored stories that are optimized to meet your goal.

When advertising a Page, you’ll choose from three options:

  • Get More Page Likes – Build a bigger audience
  • Promote Page Posts – Get more people to see and engage with your important messages
  • Advanced Options – Configure advanced creative and pricing options, such as bidding for clicks (CPC)
After you’ve selected what you’re advertising and your goal, we’ll suggest sponsored stories along with your regular ad. This group of ads and sponsored stories is optimized to help people discover your business through their friends. You can opt out of any ad type you don’t want and no increase in budget is required. You’ll see both your ads and sponsored stories in the Ads Manager. The formats that are doing the most to help you reach your goal will automatically get more of the budget you added when you set up your ad.

  1. for businesses to meet an important business objective (drives sales and traffic)
  2. to drive significant news feed reach and user stories for businesses
All offers require an ad budget to run; the higher the budget the more people you will reach. You can buy it like any other page post ad. A budget will also filter out low quality offers and ensure businesses increase their chance of success.
